About Us
La Pepiniere Fleurie is a two acre farm in Homestead, Florida, that values nutrient-dense food and organically grown vegetables.
My wife Mary and I founded the farm in 1998. We shared a vision to clear the 2-acre property of Brazilian peppers and to plant a fruit grove nestled in between a small pine rockland and a hardwood hammock. Palms and ornamentals were to be planted around the homestead and guava trees in the grove.
After 10 years the majority of our aging guava trees were replaced by dwarf mangoes: Pickering, Nam Doc Mien, Mallika, Keitt (a late season mango), and Glenn (early season). Jackfruits were added between mulberries and Lychee, "Brewster" trees and banana trees lined in rows. Beds of arugula and other seasonal veggies abound...
Since then, we've adopted chickens and house them in a movable coop with a 60x15 foot run. We enjoy eggs from our roost and in the winter months we raise "Freedom Ranger" broiler chickens; which we process on farm and freeze.
We are grateful for to this farm for it has allowed us to learn about growing food in a healthy way and raising healthy human beings and animals. We would like to share in our abundance with you...

Practices
* A cover crop is implemented at the end of every season of Sun Hemp and later "chopped and dropped" to bring the vital nutrients to the surface.
* Weeds and leaves are composted in a 3-step method, and the final product is incorporated into our raised beds.
* We have planted lots of natives around our fruit trees to ensure pollinators are happy.
* Mulch is the only element added to the grove.
* No pesticides or herbicides have ever been used on the land.
* We have trimmed and cut down trees to give more sun to our raised beds and fruit
trees.
